Breast augmentation surgery involves using breast implants to increase the size of your breasts or restore breast volume that has been lost after weight reduction or pregnancy. Breast augmentation is clinically referred to as augmentation mammaplasty.

Breast implants may also be used for breast reconstruction after mastectomy or injury.

Breast augmentation surgery, also known as augmentation mammaplasty, is the surgical placement of breast implants to reshape the breast in order to make it larger.
At Huntington Women’s Health we offer both round and shaped (teardrop) Sientra impants. Each uses a proprietary gel fill technology, High-Strength Cohesive Silicone Gel, with a formulation unique to each implant shape.
Our Sientra round implants are the only round implant made with HSC Silicone Gel for the desired look and feel. It offers a fuller, more dramatic appearance in the upper portion of the breast. HSC round implants are the right choice for a fuller appearance and more dramatic cleavage. Our HSC+ shaped implants with a more cohesive gel fill, are designed to create a more contoured, natural silhouette. The HSC + Silicone Gel allows the implant to hold shape without feeling too firm. It’s designed specially to mimic the look and feel of a breast.
Both the round and shaped implant come in many different shapes and sizes, so you’ll be able to create a look that’s perfect for you.
Breast augmentation recovery includes a post-surgical recovery period of 24 to 48 hours and an additional reduced-activity period of a few days. It is normal to experience soreness and swelling for a few weeks. You can resume exercise and normal activity at the direction of our team. Over time, post-surgical swelling will decrease and incision lines will fade.
Breast implants are not designed to last a lifetime. You may need to have the implants replaced if you have complications or if the size and shape of your breasts change over time.
Breast augmentation does not correct severely drooping breasts. If you want your breasts to look fuller and to be lifted due to sagging, a breast lift may be required in conjunction with breast augmentation. Breast lifting can often be done at the same time as your augmentation or may require a separate operation. Your plastic surgeon will assist you in making this decision.
Breast reduction surgery, also known as reduction mammaplasty, removes excess breast fat, glandular tissue, and skin to reduce the breast size and alleviate any discomfort associated with overly large breasts.
Overly large breasts can cause some women to experience physical pain and discomfort and can often impair women’s ability to lead an active life.
If you are experiencing any of the following, breast reduction may be beneficial for you.
A breast lift, or mastopexy and breast lift surgery, addresses sagging and uneven breasts, decreased breast volume and drooping nipples and stretched areolas (the darker area surrounding the nipples), recreating a youthful shape and lift to your breasts. If there is too little or too much breast volume, a breast augmentation or breast reduction might be recommended in addition to a lift. Every year, thousands of women undergo successful breast-lift surgery, experience no major problems and are pleased with the results.
When to Consider a Breast Lift
Many women who consider a breast lift also consider breast reduction, upper body lift and mommy makeover.
